My husband and I have managed to make a tradition out of having Waffles with Seasonal fruit, Organic Maple Syrup and some Wicked Cream for brunch on Sundays… and I must say it could be worse! mmm.
This Sunday, we enjoyed them with apples and cinnamon.
Here is the best waffle recipe around! adapted From The New Basics Cookbook.
Buttermilk Waffles
1 cup AP Flour
1 tablespoon light Brown Sugar
1/2 tablespoon Baking Soda
1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon Salt
1 cup Buttermilk
2 Eggs (separated)
1/6 cup Melted Butter
- Preheat Waffle iron.
- Sift together flour, sugar, cinnamon, baking soda, salt.
- In another bowl stir together melted butter, buttermilk and egg yolks.
- Beat the egg whites till stiff.
- Stir the Buttermilk mixture into dry ingredients until they are just combined and then gently fold in the whites.
- Cook the batter in prepared waffle iron until crisp and golden
Serve with Cream, Seasonal fruit, and Maple Syrup … Enjoy !!! mmmmmm
